DICT: No extension of July 25 SIM registration deadline

The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) said it is sticking to the July 25, 2023 deadline for the mandatory SIM (subscriber identity module) registration.

According to a "24 Oras" report, DICT Secretary Ivan John Uy said all unregistered SIM will immediately lose connection at 12:01 a.m. on July 26.

A five-day grace period for reactivation of the disconnected SIM will be allowed.

The mandatory registration began on April 27 and was supposed to end on April 26, 2023.  The DICT allowed the 90-day extension to accommodate more mobile users to enlist their SIM.

There are currently 103 million registered SIM in the country, which is in line with DICT’s target.—Jiselle Casucian/LDF, GMA Integrated News
