Marcos appoints Marius Corpus as GCG chairman, SC spox Hosaka as commissioner

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has appointed Marius Corpus as chairperson of the Governance Commission for GOCCs (GCG), the Presidential Communications Office said on Friday.

Marcos also named Supreme Court spokesperson Brian Keith Hosaka as commissioner of the GCG, the PCO said.

Corpus served before as undersecretary of the Department of the Interior and Local Government.

The GCG is mandated to safeguard the country’s ownership rights and ensure that operations of government-owned and controlled corporations (GOCCs) are transparent and responsive.

Meanwhile, prior to his appointment, Hosaka served as spokesperson under retired Chief Justice Lucas Bersamin, retired Chief Justice Diosdado Peralta, and Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo.

“Hosaka… was instrumental in ushering several initiatives that have further enhanced the dissemination of information about the Court and its activities, thus bringing the Courts closer to the public,” the Court said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the Court said Hosaka founded the Paner Hosaka & Ypil Attorneys-at-Law before he was appointed spokesperson.

He also served as the Deputy General Counsel of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines. — Anna Felicia Bajo and Joahan Lei Casilao/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
