Comelec: No more extension of COC filing for 2023 BSKE polls

The filing of certificates of candidacy (COC) for the 2023 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) will no longer be extended, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said Monday.

“No more po, that’s it po,” Comelec spokesperson Rex Laudiangco said in a message to reporters when asked if there would be more extensions.

Laudiangco also said the number of candidates filing their COCs was not as much as before.

“Hindi na ganun ka blockbuster. Since September 2 po,” he said.

(It’s not as blockbuster as before. Since September 2.)

As of Saturday, the poll body said a total of 1,181,404 aspirants in the country's 82 provinces have filed their COCs.

The Comelec previously suspended the filing of the COCs in the National Capital Region due to inclement weather.

The filing resumed on Saturday, September 2.

Meanwhile, the 2023 BSKE will be held on October 30. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
