NDRRMC: Over P895M worth of infra damage reported due to Goring, Hanna, Ineng, Habagat
A total of P895,376,900 worth of damage to infrastructure has been reported so far due to the impact of Tropical Cyclones Goring, Hanna, and Ineng, as well as the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat.
In a report on Wednesday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said most of the damage was reported in Ilocos with P597,000,000.
It was followed by Cagayan with P151,655,000, Cordillera Administrative Region with P106,530,000, and Mimaropa with P40,191,900.
The damage and losses to the agriculture sector due to Goring has breached P1 billion as of Wednesday, the Department of Agriculture (DA) said.
The DA-Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Operations Center said the value of production loss due to Goring has soared to P1.14 billion.
Goring devastated 44,928 hectares of farm lands in Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa and Western Visayas, affecting 35,006 farmers.
Meanwhile, the death toll due to the tropical cyclones and Habagat remained at two, which were reported in Western Visayas and CAR. Three people were reported injured in Central Luzon and Calabarzon.
One person is still missing in Western Visayas.
The NDRRMC said 638,967 individuals or 172,346 families were affected by the weather disturbances in Ilocos, Cagayan, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Western Visayas, CAR, and the National Capital Region (NCR).
Of the affected population, 1,750 people or 479 families were staying inside 25 evacuation centers while 2,074 persons or 450 families were taking shelter in other places.
A total of 1,544 houses were damaged—1,279 partially and 265 totally—in Ilocos, Cagayan, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Western Visayas, and CAR.
Power supply interruption is still being experienced in three of the 48 affected areas in Western Visayas. Water supply problem is also still reported in one of the three affected areas in the same region.
The communication line issue in an affected area in Ilocos has been fixed.
Two affected international flights in NCR have yet to be resumed, while the seven canceled domestic flights in Cagayan have already resumed.
Twenty-two passengers were stranded in Western Visayas as 75 of the 98 affected seaports have yet to resume operations in Cagayan, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, and Western Visayas.
State of calamity was declared in Leganes, Pototan, and Oton in Iloilo; Sibalom in Antique; and Bago, Bacolod, and San Enrique in Negros Occidental.
A total of 386 classes and 139 work schedules were suspended.
Assistance worth P50,338,479 has been provided to the victims so far, according to the NDRRMC. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
