The Vatican’s Secretariat of State response to the CBCP for its petition to establish a Permanent Diaconate in the Ecclesiastical Circumscriptions in the country was posted on Facebook on Tuesday.

“I am writing in response to your letter of 25 July last petitioning the Holy Father on behalf of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines to establish the Permanent Diaconate in the Ecclesiastical Circumscriptions of your country, in accord with the Apostolic Letter Sacrum diaconatus ordinem and the Ratio fundamentalis institutionis diaconorum permanentium,” it said.

“In this regard, I am pleased to inform you that the Holy Father has granted your petition, and you are hereby requested to contact the Dicastery for the Clergy concerning all further matters pertaining to the establishment of the Permanent Diaconate,” it added.

It noted that the Secretariat of State will communicate Pope Francis's decision to the same Dicastery.

“As you and your brother Bishops implement this noble initiative for the good of the holy people of God in the Philippines, please be assured of the Holy Father's prayers that it will bear much fruit for many years to come,” it said. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
