Marcos says he had 'promising' talks with Singaporean leaders before watching F1

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. said Monday that he had "promising" discussions with Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong on the sidelines of the Formula One Grand Prix.

Wearing a green polo shirt, Marcos was seen in the photo engaging with the Singaporean leaders before they watched the finals of the F1.

"The discussions with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Deputy PM Lawrence Wong have been promising. Our countries can expect enhanced collaboration on multiple fronts to address common global challenges," Marcos said in a post on Instagram.

"Later in the evening, we watched Ferrari clinch the podium at the F1 Grand Prix!" he added.

In a separate Instagram post, First Lady Louise "Liza" Araneta-Marcos also said that the Formula One is an opportunity for networking among various personalities.

Liza shared photos with Singaporean business leaders and political personalities, including the Singaporean Prime Minister.

"Formula 1 is a global sport that provides opportunities for networking with a diverse range of people -- including political figures, celebrities, and business leaders," Liza said in her post.

Their son, Joseph Simon, and Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez were also seen in the photos.

Marcos arrived in Singapore on Wednesday, September 13, for the 10th Asian Conference and to attend the finals of the F1.

His attendance at the race in 2022 was criticized by the public, but the President said this was the best way to drum up business.

Malaysia-based retail specialist Valiram Group is looking to expand its operations in the Philippines, according to the Presidential Communications Office on Saturday, following Marcos' meeting with company officials in Singapore.

Singapore-based multinational technology company Dyson on the other hand has committed to investing P11 billion in the Philippines in the next two years, Malacañang said on Saturday.

The Presidential Communications Office earlier said Marcos returned to Manila past 12 a.m. of September 18. —KG, GMA Integrated News
