11.6M senior citizens to vote in 2023 BSKE
At least 11.6 million senior citizens will cast their votes in the 2023 barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections (BSKE), the National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) said on Friday, citing data from the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
NCSC Chairperson Franklin Quijano said this is a “significant number” but believes more senior citizens were still not registered.
“The record of Comelec is 11.6 million senior citizens. I'd like to believe na may hindi pa narehistro dyan. This is a significant number,” he said in PTV's Bagong Pilipinas.

Quijano also thanked the poll body for allocating special polling precincts for voters in vulnerable sectors including senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs).
“Nagpapasalamat tayo dahil tinupad nila ang commitment nila na bigyan ng attention ang senior citizens,” he said.

As of September 14, Comelec data showed there were 67,841,958 registered voters for the barangay polls and 23,255,259 for the SK elections.
