Alleged pawnshop robbery mastermind in Cebu passes 2023 Bar exam
An alleged mastermind of a pawnshop robbery in Cebu City has passed the 2023 Bar examinations, GMA Regional TV reported on Wednesday.
In a report by Alan Domingo, Jigger Geverola of Barangay Gutlang, Argao town, Cebu Province was among the 3,812 examinees who hurdled the Bar exam held in September.
The result was announced on December 5. The oath-taking and roll-signing is set on December 22.
Geverola graduated law from the Southwestern University in Cebu City.
He was arrested by the Cebu City Police Office as the alleged mastermind behind the robbery of Oro Sugbu Pawnshop and Jewelry Store in Colon dtreet, Barangay Kalubihan, Cebu City.
The incident happened on the morning of November 25.
Geverola is currently under police custody, the report added.
In an interview with reporters, Geverola said he has mixed emotions after passing the Bar exams and was hoping that he would be able to take his oath as a lawyer.
“Actually, mixed emotions or ambivalent, masaya na nakapasa, nagbunga ang aking pagsusumikap subalit dahil sa sitwasyon na aking kinakaharap, nalulungkot pero kasama ito sa mahabang proseso sa pag-take ng bar,” he said.
He said he ought to help those in need and he already got first clients.
“Una kong kliyente, mga kasamahan ko sa selda, lahat silang 41 katao,” he said.
“Hopefully, makalaya kaagad ako dito. December 22 sana, hopefully, optimistically malaka-sign ako sa roll of attorney,” he added.—Sherylin Untalan/AOL, GMA Integrated News
