Indonesia's Joko Widodo ends official visit in PH

Indonesian President Joko Widodo left Manila on Thursday as he finished his official visit to the Philippines.

Jokowi's presidential plane left Villamor Airbase past 12:40 p.m.

Jokowi had a bilateral meeting with President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr., with the aim to strengthen bilateral ties between the two countries. The two leaders also discussed the developments in the South China Sea as well as strengthening border controls.

Aside from his bilateral meeting with Marcos, Jokowi visited Kopiko Philippines Corporation (KPC) - Laguna Plant in Calamba, which is an Indonesian investment in the country.

Malacañang said that Kopiko, a leading coffee mix brand developed to cater to Filipinos' preference, is manufactured by the Mayora Group. Its parent company, PT Mayora Indah Tbk, is an Indonesia-listed food and beverage company founded in 1977.  

Jokowi also visited the W Hydrocolloids, Inc. - Carmona Plant in Cavite in which he conveyed that Indonesia has the potential to develop a seaweed processing industry, noting that his country is supported by a vast coastline like the Philippines.

The Indonesian President is hoping for an increase in his country’s seaweed processing that would eventually allow its production to be exported to several countries such as the Philippines. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
