AFP names Francel Margareth Padilla as its first female spokesperson

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Monday named Colonel Francel Margareth Padilla as its new spokesperson.

Padilla confirmed to GMA News Online that she is the first female spokesperson of the AFP.

“Yes,” Padilla said in a message when asked about the matter.

AFP chief General Romeo Brawner Jr. presented the new spokesperson in a press conference after the command conference at Camp Aguinaldo.

“I also want to thank the Chief of Staff for the trust and confidence given me to be the new AFP spokesperson,” Padilla said.

“We will still continue with whatever it is that we are doing in terms of informing the public appropriately in terms of the thrusts of the AFP,” she added.

Padilla was one of the finalists in the Cybersecurity Woman of the Year 2023 with nominees from 59 countries.

She served as the commander of the 7th Signal Battalion, Army Signal Regiment of the Philippine Army.
