GMA Network Inc. receives recognition from Japanese Embassy for boosting PH-Japan relations

GMA Network Inc. received a Certificate of Commendation from the Japanese Embassy during the opening ceremony of this year’s Japanese Film Festival.

According to Aubrey Carampel’s report on “24 Oras” Friday, the recognition was handed by Ambassador of Japan to the Philippines Kazukiho Koshikawa.

The award was then handed over by Japanese Embassy Deputy Chief of Mission Kenichi Matsuda.

According to the embassy, the recognition was given to the Kapuso Network for continuously promoting Japanese pop culture in the country, as well as for boosting the mutual understanding and friendship between the two countries.

GMA Entertainment Group Vice President for Drama Cheryl Ching-Sy was present at the awarding, alongside other GMA executives, “Voltes V: Legacy” stars Radson Flores and Matt Lozano, and director Mark Reyes.

“This award serves as a powerful reminder of the enduring bond between our nations and the impact of cultural exchange through the language of art and storytelling. We commit to continue our dedication to storytelling that resonates across borders,” Ching-Sy said.

Meanwhile, “Voltes V Legacy: The Cinematic Experience” also made history as the first and only Filipino-made film to be shown at the Japanese Film Festival in the Philippines.

Direk Mark said that the film is also set to be shown soon in Japan.

“It just goes to prove that, until now, we are being appreciated beyond the Filipinos. We are appreciated by particularly by the Japanese and they're very excited to see the cinematic version, the cinematic experience, to be aired in Japan in Japanese so that is being worked on,” he said.
