Marcos says he made lifetime friends in Davao: 'Maraming masayang alaala'
Despite the apparent rift between President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. and his predecessor, Rodrigo Duterte, the former said Wednesday that he has a lot of fond memories and friends in Davao.
Marcos made the remark during the Department of Agrarian Reform XI region-wide e-title distribution in Davao City. Vice President Sara Duterte introduced Marcos as the guest of honor before he delivered his speech.
Marcos said he has made friends in Davao that will last for a lifetime.
''Masaya ako, masaya ako at nakadalaw ulit ako dito sa Davao, maraming masayang alaala ang ibinigay ng mga Davaoeños sa akin at sa aking pamilya sa nakalipas na panahon. Marami ring pagkakaibigang pang-habambuhay ang nabuo rito,'' he said.
''Hindi maaaring mawala sa aking puso ang pagmamahal ng Davao sa mga tao dito,'' he added.
Davao is the bailiwick of Duterte, who recently launched tirades against Marcos. The former president accused Marcos of being a drug addict as he also warned that his successor will have the same fate as his father, late President Ferdinand Marcos Sr.
Asked for a response to Duterte's criticisms, Marcos said this could be due to the effects of Fentanyl, a pain reliever which the former president had admitted to using.
