Palace orders gov’t agencies, LGUs to support National Crime Prevention Program
The Office of the President has directed all national government agencies to support and cooperate in the implementation of the 2024 National Crime Prevention Program (NCPP).
This as Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin signed Memorandum Circular No. 46 on April 18, which took effect immediately.
Based on the circular, it is necessary for all government agencies and instrumentalities, as well as local government units (LGUs), to back the NCPP of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) “to ensure [its] success.”
On February 22, the DILG submitted to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. the proposed adoption of the 2024 NCPP, which aims to provide “cross-cutting strategies to further foster safe communities, protect the rights of Filipinos, and reduce the prevalence of criminal activities in the country,” aligned with the Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028.
Malacañang designated the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) as the lead agency in the implementation of the NCPP.
The circular also stated that the funding requirements shall be charged against the existing appropriations of the respective agencies and LGUs, subject to applicable laws, rules, and regulations.—RF, GMA Integrated News
