GMA News Online reporter Ted Cordero among participants in 3-week US training

GMA News Online’s senior news producer Ted Cordero is among the 10 Filipino journalists selected to participate in the pioneering Friends, Partners, Allies reporting tour in the United States.

The three-week journalism training program, held from April 20 to May 8, 2024, is an initiative of the US Embassy in the Philippines in partnership with the CRDF Global.

The reporting tour aims to introduce journalists covering various beats to US institutions, foreign policy, innovation, and culture “to enhance their reporting on the different aspects of the US-Philippine bilateral relationship.”

Journalist-participants in the program will be engaging in on-the-record meetings and background briefings with US government officials, policymakers, companies, new organizations, and members of the Filipino-American community, among others, to gain new insights on the US-Philippine relations.

Cordero, who covers the business and economy beats for GNO, joins other delegates from various national and local media organizations in the Philippines in a familiarization tour across four key cities in the US —Washington DC, New York City, San Francisco, and Honolulu.

Other participants in the program are Jervis Manahan of ABS-CBN News, Iris Gonzales of The Philippine Star, Frances Mangosing of the Philippine Daily Inquirer, Celeste Anna Formoso of Palawan News, Lucky Malicay of The Freeman, Vinafel Pilapil of PTV Davao, Joyce Rocamora of the Philippine News Agency, Martin Sadongdong of the Manila Bulletin, and Jomelle Garner of the Daily Tribune. —KBK, GMA Integrated News
