14-year-old in Cebu shot dead while studying at home

A 14-year-old in Talisay City, Cebu was studying at home when she was suddenly shot to death by a masked intruder.

According to a Friday 24 Oras report by GMA Regional TV Balitang Bisdak's Fe Marie Dumaboc, Talisay Police were investigating a person of interest in the killing and were looking into the involvement of the minor’s relatives in illegal drugs.

The victim’s mother said that she didn’t know of any arguments nor was she aware if her daughter had enemies.

The victim’s niece shared that the suspect forced his way into their home, while the victim’s mother said that the shooter was wearing a mask.

“Kumatok at hindi nila binuksan, tinadyakan ang pinto. Tinutukan, walang makikita na mukha dahil nakamask,” said the victim’s mother.

(The suspect knocked but they didn’t open the door. So he kicked the door open. He pointed the gun, they couldn’t see a face because he wore a mask)

A neighbor was able to hear the shots and called for help but was unable to see the suspect’s face as he escaped into a nearby alley.

“May pumutok, pagkatapos ay binitawan ko ang aking mga paninda at tumakbo ako para tumulong at binuhat namin ang aking anak,” said the neighbor.

(There was a shot, after that, I dropped my merchandise and ran for help and picked up my child.)

Talisay police are now looking at CCTV footage taken in the area to help solve the crime. — Jiselle Casucian/DVM, GMA Integrated News
