Suspect nabbed for blackmail, posting ex's sensitive photos, videos

The Anti-Cybercrime Group of the Philippine National Police arrested a suspect who allegedly posted sensitive photos and videos of his 18-year-old ex-girlfriend on social media.

According to Emil Sumangil's Tuesday 24 Oras report, victim “Jean” said that she and the suspect entered into a relationship when she was 16 years old and the suspect was of legal age.

She shared that the suspect was often jealous and demanded she stay at home.

“Sobrang seloso niya, sobrang higpit niya. Gusto niya nasa bahay lang ako [at] alam dapat niya ang galaw ko,” she said.

(He was too jealous, too strict. He wanted me to stay at home [and] to know all my movements.)

After their breakup, the suspect blackmailed the victim with sensitive photos and videos that were unknowingly taken during their relationship.

While she tried to ignore the threat, he later posted a sensitive photo on his page and distributed sensitive videos to her friends online.

“Sabi niya sakin, ‘ikakalat ko ang video mo!… Kung hindi mo rin naman ako babalikan, kung di lang din natin aayusin to, mas maganda na sirain ko na lang buhay mo’,” she said.

(He told me, ‘I’ll spread your video!... If you won’t go back together with me, if we won’t fix this, I might as well ruin your life.)

“Sabi niya, ‘look at your MY DAY’. Pag-punta ko sa MY DAY ko, naroroon na ang picture ko, kita ang katawan ko… [He said] ‘Wala nang alisan yan! Ide-delete ko yan pag kasama na kita’,” she added.

(He told me, ‘Look at your MY DAY.’ When I checked my MY DAY, my photo was there and my body was visible… [He said] ‘There’s no removing this! I will only delete this when we're back together.)

Jean reported the matter to the police, who set up an entrapment operation.

The suspect was successfully detained despite his attempt to escape and resist arrest.

“Maraming beses ako nagtimpi, na huwag kami umabot sa ganitong sitwasyon, kasi malapit din sa akin ang pamilya niya… Ilang beses ako nagmamaka-awa… Sabi ng mga kaibigan ko, ‘Ipakulong mo na yan!’, pero ilang beses ko siyang pinagbigyan,” Jean said.

(I’ve held back so many times. I didn't want matters to get to this point because I was close to his family… I begged so many times… My friends told me, "Sue him!" But I gave him so many chances.)

“Gusto ko talagang makulong ang lalaki na yan… Sobrang sakit po, tinanggap ko yan ng buong buo… Ang ending, ganyan ang ginawa sa anak ko. Hindi naman po kami nagkulang pero bakit ganun ginawa sa anak ko? Napakabalasubas,” added the victim's mother.

(I want this man jailed… It's painful, I accepted him wholeheartedly… In the end, that’s what he did to my daughter. We didn’t do anything wrong but why would he do that to my daughter? It’s so evil)

The suspect will face charges for violating the Violence Against Women and Children law, Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Law, and Child Abuse.

“During the time na nagsimula ang relationship nila, the victim [was] only 16-years-old,” said PNP-ACG Police Captain Michelle Sabino.

(During the time they started their relationship, the victim was only 16 years old.)

Meanwhile, the suspect refused to comment on the allegations.

“Yung pag-urong, hindi ko na po kayang gawin… Karangalan na po ng pagkatao ko na mabigyang hustisya ang ginawa nya sakin,” Jean said.
