5 killed in Compostela Valley landslide


Five persons, including a four-year-old girl, were killed while five others were injured when heavy rains triggered a landlside in the southern Philippine province Compostella Valley Monday, belated reports from the National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC) said. The NDCC said the landslide occured 6:30 p.m. when layers of mud buried six houses in Sitio Biasong in Pantukan town. Those killed were Lady Lee Magdipeg, 4; John Riel Tequillo, 16; Jimmy Delegencia, 24; Alex Galdo, 29 and Marilyn Magdipeg. Reported injured were Erlinda Macadagat, 20; Eduardo Macadagat, 35; Raquel Manundan, 16; Reynaldo Magdipeg, 26; and four-month-old baby John Lloyd Magdipeg. The survivors were taken to Davao Regional Hospital in Apokon, Tagum City for treatment. -GMANews.TV
