JSCC to launch first tri-city justice zone vs. exploitation of children

The Justice Sector Coordinating Council (JSCC) will launch its first Tri-City Special Justice Zone that seeks to address the online sexual abuse and exploitation of children (OSAEC), according to the Supreme Court (SC).

SC spokesperson Atty. Camille Ting said that the JSCC will launch the special justice zone in Cagayan de Oro, Iligan City, and Ozamiz City on September 3.

“There will be more collaboration and more information sharing, which will help address the issues of OSAEC cases,” Ting said in a media briefing.

“[T]hey were chosen because these three cities are the main cities where OSAEC case investigations and convictions are the highest,” she added.

The JSCC is composed of the SC, the Department of Justice, and the Department of the Interior and Local Government.

According to Ting, the Justice Zone is the JSCC’s flagship program and was institutionalized by the Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028. — VBL, GMA Integrated News
