DICT: Online shopping scams now can be reported via eGov App
The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) on Friday said online shopping scams now can be reported through the eReport feature of the eGov Super App amid the holiday season.
In a statement, DICT Undersecretary David Almirol said, “The newest feature is e-commerce reporting for the Department of Trade and Industry’s consumer protection. The DTI Consumer Protection Office receives real-time reports and responds promptly.”
Almirol said the new e-Report feature streamlined the process of reporting scam numbers.
“By simply capturing a screenshot of the suspicious text message along with the sender’s number, users can submit it directly to the government via the eGov App,” he said.
The DICT encouraged the public to use the eReport and eTravel features of the eGov Super App amid the expected increase of crimes and travels during the Christmas season.
“One of the standout features of the eGov Super App is the eReport system. Users can easily report different concerns with just a simple click,” Almirol said.
Users can report crimes, fire incidents, complaints about red tape, abuse against women and children, among others through the eReport feature of the eGov Super App.
Meanwhile, Almirol said the eTravel feature serves as a unified digital platform for passengers entering and leaving the Philippines.
This feature streamlines border control, enhances health surveillance, and provides valuable insights for economic data analysis.
“It embodies the government’s commitment to efficiency and security in travel processes,” Almirol said.
