38 illegal sellers of registered SIM cards nabbed in January — PNP

A total of 38 illegal sellers of registered SIM cards, some of them minors, were arrested last January, police said Tuesday.

In a Super Radyo dzBB report by Rod Vega, the Philippine National Police -Anti Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG) seized over 7,900 SIM cards from their entrapment operations from January 1 to 31 of this year.

Authorities found that 19 of these SIM cards were already linked to e-wallets and bank accounts.

On Monday, a 15-year-old girl was nabbed for the illegal online sales of registered SIM cards. She was caught in an entrapment operation in Bocaue, Bulacan.

According to Brigadier General Bernard R. Yang, PNP-ACG Director, seeing young individuals engaged in illegal activities is alarming. He urged the parents and guardians to educate their children on the legal consequences of cybercrime.

“The PNP remains committed to enforcing the law while ensuring that children in conflict with the law receive proper intervention and guidance to prevent further involvement in illicit activities,” Yang said. —Sherylin Untalan/RF, GMA Integrated News
