Appointments to top AFP posts announced ahead of Esperon retirement

MANILA, Philippines - Defense Sec. Gilberto Teodoro Jr on Tuesday announced the appointment of six senior military officers to key positions in the military, when Army chief Lt. Gen. Alexander Yano replaces Armed Forces chief Gen. Hermogenes Esperon on May 12 . Those who were appointed to new posts are: • Lt. Gen. Cardozo Luna, who was named as incoming Vice Chief of Staff; • Lt. Gen. Rodrigo Maclang, appointed as the new Deputy Chief of Staff; • Lt. Gen. Victor Ibrado, who will replace Yano as Army chief; • Lt. Gen. Pedro Ike Insierto, named commander of the AFP Central Command; • Maj. Gen. Armando Cunanan, who will occupy a new post as commander of the Eastern Mindanao Command; and • Maj. Gen. Isagani Cachueta, who was appointed commander of the Northern Luzon Command. - GMANews.TV
