Pacquiao to his driver caught in EDSA Busway: 'Wag ka na sumama sa amin'
LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte— Boxing legend and former Senator Manny Pacquiao on Tuesday said that he already ordered the relief of his service driver who fled authorities after being flagged for using the EDSA Busway.
“Hindi niyo makikita ‘yung taong ‘yan sa akin ngayon. Sabi ko, diyan ka na lang. ‘Wag ka na sumama sa amin,” Pacquiao told reporters.
(You won’t see that person with me. I told him not to join us anymore.)
Pacquiao said he scolded the head of his security after learning about the incident.
“Na-briefing ko na chief security ko na mali ‘yung ginawa nila at pinagalitan ko nang pinagalitan. Pinabalik ko nga agad at pinakuha ‘yung ticket dahil nakakahiya, bakit nila tinakasan," Pacquiao said.
(I briefed and scolded my chief security. I told him that what they did was wrong. I immediately instructed them to get the ticket because it was embarrassing.)
“Bawal sa akin ‘yang ganyan,” he added.
(I don’t tolerate that.)
Pacquiao’s camp earlier released a statement, apologizing for the incident.
The Department of Transportation’s Special Action and Intelligence Committee for Transportation (SAICT) caught two vehicles with occupants claiming to be part of Pacquiao's security detail using the EDSA busway over the weekend.
One of the vehicles’ passengers said they would pull over to talk with the traffic enforcer but instead fled.
The van eventually returned as the convoy was issued traffic violation tickets for disregarding traffic signs and illegal use of blinkers.
