Quiboloy back in Pasig jail after hospitalization —BJMP

Apollo Quiboloy has been transferred back to Pasig City Jail from a hospital.

Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) founder Apollo Quiboloy has been transferred back to Pasig City Jail from a hospital on Wednesday evening, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) said Thursday.

“Quiboloy returned to jail at 9:50 p.m., February 12, 2025,” BJMP spokesperson Jail Superintendent Jayrex Bustinera told GMA News Online in a message.

Bustinera said Quiboloy was transferred back to jail after receiving medical clearance.

The Pasig City Regional Trial Court-Branch 159 ordered the transfer of Quiboloy, private prosecutor Atty. Joeie Domingo said Wednesday.

Domingo said that according to the court, Quiboloy must be transferred back to the BJMP facility in Pasig City "unless there is a clear showing that accused Quiboloy is actually suffering from a medical condition requiring immediate and specialized attention."

"The court further noted that the BJMP is equipped with adequate medical facilities to assist accused Quiboloy should an urgent need arise,” added Domingo.

GMA News Online has requested comment from Quiboloy's camp but has yet to receive a response as of posting time.

Campaign video

Bustinera, meanwhile, said there was a court order allowing the religious leader to record videos for his campaign amid questions raised by the prosecution.

“We also want to clarify regarding his video during the campaign, may court order ito at pinayagan siya mag-video recording for campaign purpose,” he said.

(We also want to clarify regarding his video during the campaign, there was a court order and he was allowed to make a video recording for campaign purposes.)

“While confined at [Pasig City General Hospital], the court granted Quiboloy permission on February 7, 2025, to record a video for his senatorial campaign purposes,” he added.

In January, Quiboloy was allowed to stay in a government hospital as he was reportedly suffering from pneumonia.

Quiboloy was first brought to Rizal Medical Center (RMC) on January 18 after complaining of difficulty breathing. The RMC initially diagnosed him with pneumonia, prompting his transfer to The Medical City (TMC) in Ortigas for further treatment.

On January 23, the court ordered his transfer from TMC to Pasig City General Hospital (PCGH), where he was diagnosed with community-acquired pneumonia (moderate risk) and hypertension (Stage 2).

Quiboloy is currently facing a non-bailable qualified human trafficking charge under Section 4(a) of Republic Act 9208, as amended, before the Pasig court.

The Davao City-based religious leader is also facing charges under Section 5(b) and  Section 10(a) of Republic Act 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act.
