PNP: 753 cops dismissed from service since April 2024
The Philippine National Police (PNP) said a total of 753 personnel have been dismissed from service since April 2024 due to grave offenses.
In a statement on Wednesday, the PNP said 493 of these cops were dismissed due to absence without official leave (AWOL), 38 over illegal drug use, 18 over robbery/extortion, and 15 over carnapping.
Other serious violations of the dismissed cops were homicide, murder, rape, and graft/malversation.
“Our mission is to serve and protect the public, not to instill fear or abuse power. Any police officer found guilty of misconduct or illegal activities has no place in the PNP,” PNP chief Police General Rommel Marbil said.
“The Filipino people deserve a trustworthy and professional police organization. Every action we take in upholding discipline is a step toward earning and maintaining their trust. Those who do not adhere to our core values will be removed from service,” he added.
All disciplinary actions undergo due process, fair investigations, and administrative review, according to the PNP.
The police organization said that internal monitoring and strict enforcement of policies are still a priority to uphold its credibility.
The PNP said it continues to implement ethics training, internal audits, and performance monitoring to ensure that its officers are competent and trustworthy.
