Jay Ruiz takes oath as PCO chief

Veteran journalist Jay Ruiz on Monday took his oath as the new secretary of the Presidential Communications Office.

No other than President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. administered Ruiz’s oath of office.

Speaking with Palace reporters, Ruiz vowed to fight disinformation and disseminate to the public the projects of the Marcos administration.

(The Marcos administration wants to deliver the message and programs to ordinary Filipinos.)

(We want the people to know that the government is for the public. There are a lot of projects that they need to know.)

Ruiz emphasized that lies are not allowed under the Marcos administration as it only brings harm to the public.

(We need to fight fake news especially lies because this only harms us. Liars are not allowed, especially that right now, a lot of people are spreading fake news. We will fight disinformation.)

Ruiz also warned vloggers that they have the responsibility to tell the truth to the public.

(Vloggers, you have to be responsible, you have the responsibility to tell the truth.)

Ruiz replaced Cesar Chavez, who resigned from post after saying that he had fallen short of what was expected of him.

According to Chavez, he submitted his irrevocable resignation to Marcos Jr. last February 5, 2025. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
