The House of Representatives on Thursday posted an "explainer" of the Articles of Impeachment against Vice President Sara Duterte on its official Facebook page.

The video, which runs for almost 9 minutes, was uploaded this morning.

Impeachment Prosecutor Rep. Raul Angelo Bongalon of Ako Bicol Party-list said this will help explain the issues to the public.

“The Filipino people has the right to be informed of this impeachment proceeding at mas maganda na mai-translate ito doon sa mga lengwahe or dialekto na mas lalong maiintindihan ng ating mga kababayan,” Bongalon said.

(It would be better to translate it into languages ? that our compatriots can better understand.)

“It’s one way for us probably also explaining to the people on why we have signed that impeachment complaint. And medyo may mga technicalities kasi... So, may mga technical matters doon na kailangan malaman din po ng taumbayan in a plain and simple language,” he added.

The 4th impeachment complaint signed by 215 members of the House of Representatives and transmitted to the Senate contains seven Articles of Impeachment.

The grounds mentioned were culpable violation of the Constitution, flagrant betrayal of public trust, graft and corruption, and other high crimes.

GMA News Online has reached out to Duterte for comment on the Facebook post, but she has yet to reply as of posting time.

Earlier this month, Duterte gave an apparent dig to members of the House of Representatives over her impeachment.

"Mas masakit pa maiwan ng boyfriend o girlfriend kaysa ma-impeach ka ng House of Representatives," Duterte said a week before valentine's day.

(It's more painful to be left by your boyfriend or girlfriend than to be impeached by the House of Representatives.)

She also said that she is not contemplating on resigning from her position amid her impeachment.

"Wala pa tayo doon. Masyado pang malayo 'yung mga ganyan na mga bagay...

We are still, the legal team is still in the preparation of the defense and what we will do moving forward," Duterte said.
