Jay Ruiz wants regulatory body to help fight fake news on social media
Presidential Communications Office Ad Interim Secretary Jay Ruiz said Monday that he wants to have a regulatory body to combat fake news on social media.
''Pinagaaralan po natin 'yan na sana magkaroon kahit papano lalo na doon sa mabibigat na issue kasi ngayon I said, ''A lie told a thousand times trounce out the truth,''' Ruiz said in an ambush interview when asked if he is in favor of having a regulatory body for social media.
(We will study that, I hope there will be a (regulatory body) especially when it comes to huge issues.)
''Siguro panahon na na tayo ay magkaroon ng regulatory, regulation or at least kung di regulation, ipaalam sa mga vloggers, sa social media, na kayo po may responsibilidad sa publiko,'' he added.
(I think it's time that we have a regulation, or at least let vloggers know that they have responsibility to the public.)
Ruiz had earlier committed to fighting disinformation and disseminating to the public the projects of the Marcos administration.
The new PCO chief also warned vloggers that they have the responsibility to tell the truth to the public. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
