Michael Poa filed entry of appearance as VP Sara Duterte co-counsel — SC

Lawyer Michael Poa has filed his entry of appearance as co-counsel for Vice President Sara Duterte, the Supreme Court (SC) confirmed Monday.

This is over the petition filed by Duterte with the High Court challenging the validity and constitutionality of the fourth impeachment complaint against her.

In her petition, Duterte argued that the fourth impeachment complaint against her violated the 1987 Constitution's one-year ban on filing impeachment complaints since the House already took action on the three initial complaints by not forwarding it to the Speaker's office

Three impeachment complaints were filed against Duterte in December 2024, all of which were connected with the alleged misuse of confidential funds.

It was the fourth impeachment complaint that was endorsed by more than 200 lawmakers on February 5. This was transmitted to the Senate on the same day.

Poa previously served as spokesperson of the vice president.

He said his consultancy contract was terminated by November 2024.

Poa also served as undersecretary and spokesperson of the Department of Education when Vice President Duterte was still its head of the department . —
