House requests room for prosecutors in Sara Duterte trial
House Secretary General Reginald Velasco wrote to Senate President Francis "Chiz" Escudero on March 5, 2025, requesting a room for the House Prosecution Panel and Secretariat Support Group during Vice President Sara Duterte’s impeachment trial.
Velasco also sought permission to inspect the room on March 11.
Speaker Martin Romualdez wrote to Escudero separately to say that the House “trusts that the proceedings will be conducted w/ fairness, impartiality, & strict adherence to the provisions of the Constitution.”
Duterte was impeached on February 5, with over 200 lawmakers endorsing the complaint. The Articles of Impeachment were transmitted to the Senate the same day, but the upper chamber adjourned without addressing the case.
Escudero later released the initial trial timetable, tentatively setting the start date for July 30. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
