PNP: 1,558 arrested for alleged election gun ban violations so far
Authorities have arrested 1,558 persons under the election gun ban, including civilians and police officers, the National Election Monitoring Action Center (NEMAC) said Sunday.
According to its daily report, NEMAC said most were arrested in Metro Manila (499), followed by Central Luzon (229) and Central Visayas (212).
The total arrested included 1,488 civilians, 10 police officers, and six foreign nationals. NEMAC also logged 1,592 confiscated firearms.
Of the total numbers of confiscated firearms, pistols (448), revolvers (664), and replicas (58).
The nationwide gun ban took effect on January 12, and will continue until June 11, 2025.
