Treasury FB page hacked —DOF
The official Facebook account of the Bureau of the Treasury (BTr) has been hacked, the Department of Finance (DOF) said Tuesday.
In an advisory posted on its Facebook page, the DOF said, “The Bureau of the Treasury (BTr) wishes to inform the public that its official Facebook page has been compromised, and the agency currently does not have access to the account.”
“BTr strongly advises the public to disregard any posts, messages, or announcements from the compromised page until further notice. The agency is exerting all efforts to address the situation,” it said.
Pictures of a random Asian woman appeared in the “story” feature of the BTr’s Facebook page, raising concerns among netizens that the agency’s social media account has been hacked.
Nevertheless, the DOF said that for official announcements and updates, the public may visit the BTr’s official website www.treasury.gov.ph and other verified government communication channels.—Ted Cordero/AOL, GMA Integrated News
