Marcos: Social Protection Month celebration to be held every September
President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. has declared the month of September of every year as Social Protection Month.
Signed on March 6, Proclamation No. 820 stated that there is a need to raise awareness on social protection as a critical development strategy for poverty reduction, equality, and social inclusion, and highlight its importance in ensuring the resilience, health, and well-being of all Filipinos in today's evolving social and economic landscape.
Marcos' proclamation cited the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which seeks to end poverty in all forms and dimensions, including the implementation of nationally appropriate social protection systems and measures for all, particularly the poor and vulnerable.
The Social Development Committee-Sub-Committee on Social Protection shall lead the annual observance of the Social Protection Month. This office is tasked with identifying programs and activities for the celebration.
The Presidential Communications Office is directed to enforce effective measures to inform and encourage the public to support the programs, activities, and projects in connection with the occasion. — VBL, GMA Integrated News
