House Secretary General Reginald Velasco’s ocular inspection of the prosecutors’ working area in the Senate has been postponed, according to Senate Secretary Renato Bantug Jr.

Last week, Velasco wrote to Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero, requesting a room for the House Prosecution Panel and Secretariat Support Group during Vice President Sara Duterte’s impeachment trial.

Speaker Martin Romualdez also wrote to Escudero separately to say that the House “trusts that the proceedings will be conducted w/ fairness, impartiality, & strict adherence to the provisions of the Constitution.”

Duterte was impeached on February 5, with over 200 lawmakers endorsing the complaint. The Articles of Impeachment were transmitted to the Senate the same day, but the upper chamber adjourned without addressing the case.

Escudero later released the initial trial timetable, tentatively setting the start date for July 30—KG, GMA Integrated News
