Missing Slovak woman found dead at abandoned chapel in Boracay


A missing Slovak woman was found dead in an abandoned chapel on Boracay Island on Wednesday, according to the police on Thursday.

Based on a police report, 23-year-old Michaela Mickova had been missing for two days when her body was found in the abandoned church in Barangay Balabag in Malay town around 2:19 p.m.

The police reported that her body was decomposing and had no lower garment.

“We will leave no stone unturned until the perpetrators of the heinous crime against Michaela Mickova have been brought to justice,” the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO 6) said in a statement.

“It is our foremost priority and goal to deliver justice to the family and loved ones of Michaela Mickova - a beloved daughter, a friend to many, and a young woman who has a passion for life,” it added.

In a separate statement, the Aklan Police Provincial Police Office said the Malay Municipal Police Station has launched a probe into the incident.

“The authorities are working diligently to gather all relevant information and evidence to determine the cause of death and identity of any potential suspect,” it added.

Despite the “isolated incident”, the police vowed that the area remains safe as they place more security measures such as increased police presence and patrols. –NB, GMA Integrated News
