Palace: No need for loyalty check among police, military after Duterte arrest

President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. is confident with the loyalty of the security forces following the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte over crimes against humanity charges, Malacañang said on Friday.
Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro said there is no need to have loyalty check among security forces.
''Loyalty check? Wala po, kampante po ang Pangulo. Ang ginawa naman po ng administrasyon ay naaayon sa batas,'' Castro said.
(Loyalty check? None. The President is confident. What we did was in accordance with the law.)
The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) already dismissed reports of alleged resignations of its personnel to express support for the former chief executive.
The Philippine military urged the public ''to exercise critical discernment and avoid spreading unconfirmed information.''
For its part, the Philippine National Police also denied reports that some of its personnel have resigned to back Duterte amid his legal battle before the International Criminal Court. On Tuesday morning, authorities served a warrant of arrest from the ICC against Duterte for murder charges as a crime against humanity in connection with his deadly drug war that reportedly resulted in the deaths of at least 6,000 people.
Duterte is set to appear before judges for a hearing on Friday where he will be informed of the crimes he is alleged to have committed, as well as his rights as a defendant. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
