Marcos increases military personnel subsistence allowance to P350 per day

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. on Friday ordered an increase in the subsistence allowance of military personnel of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

In Executive Order No. 84 signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on behalf of Marcos,  the president said such subsistence allowance will be increased from P150 to P350 per day effective January 1, 2025.

The said allowance increase is for AFP officers and enlisted personnel, as well as trainees and probationary second lieutenants/ensigns undergoing military training, Citizen Military Training cadets on
summer camp training and reserve officers and enlisted reservists undergoing training and assembly/mobilization test, Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit, and cadets.

The allowance increase will be charged against the available appropriations of the AFP under the approved 2025 budget and other fund sources that may be identified by the Department of Budget and Management, subject to  relevant budgeting, accounting, and auditing laws, rules and regulations.

"Thereafter, the funding requirements necessary for the continued implementation of this Order shall be included in the budget proposals of the AFP, subject to the usual budget preparation process," the order read.

EO 84 took effect immediately upon publication in the Official Gazette. —KG, GMA Integrated News
