OPAPRU asks MNLF: Help ensure successful BARMM polls
The Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU) on Tuesday called on the members of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) to help the government in ensuring the successful conduct of the first-ever Bangsamoro Parliamentary elections.
OPAPRU Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. made the remarks in his message for the 57th founding anniversary of the MNLF.
"On this significant occasion commemorating the founding anniversary of the MNLF, we pause to honor the enduring legacy of resilience and unwavering dedication that has shaped the trajectory of peace in the Bangsamoro region," said Galvez Jr.
According to the OPAPRU chief, the administration of President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. reaffirms its commitment to "full and faithful implementation of the 1996 Final Peace Agreement," describing the landmark agreement as the "cornerstone of our collective pursuit of lasting peace and inclusive development in partnership with the MNLF."
"Our collaborative efforts, exemplified by the ongoing transformation of the MNLF members, are designed to empower former combatants and their communities, ensuring their meaningful integration into the socio-economic fabric of the nation," he said.
"We are dedicated to creating a future where every MNLF member can live a life of dignity, security, and prosperity," he added.
Galvez also urged the MNLF to help ensure "a free, fair, and credible electoral process, fostering an environment conducive to continued stability and progress."
"These elections represent a pivotal step in strengthening democratic governance and solidifying the gains of the peace process," he said.
"As we celebrate the rich history and enduring aspirations of the Bangsamoro people, let us draw strength from our shared journey towards peace. United in purpose, we shall forge ahead with unwavering courage and conviction, guided by the principles of justice, inclusivity, and mutual respect," Galvez Jr. added.
