Palace to local candidates: Do not violate the law
At the start of the local campaign period, Malacañang reminded candidates to follow the law.
Claire Castro said at a briefing Friday.
(Our reminder to our candidates is to not violate the law. First, you will serve as leaders so you should be at the forefront of following the law. That's our reminder.)
Castro also reminded security forces to remain apolitical this election season.
(Do not allow yourselves to be used by politicians. Do not let your feelings overpower you. Your job is to remain loyal to the country and the Constitution.)
At the onset of the local campaign, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) conducted "Oplan Baklas" or the removal of illegal campaign materials.
Comelec chairperson George Garcia said authorities monitored many campaign materials violating the guidelines.
