Tony Yang brought to hospital after vomiting blood
Businessman Tony Yang, brother of former presidential economic adviser Michael Yang, was brought to a hospital on Monday after vomiting blood.
According to Saleema Refran's post on X (formerly Twitter), Yang has been brought back to the detention facility of the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) in Pasay City.
"Mayroon dugo (there's blood)," Yang said when asked if he was still vomiting blood.
PAOCC spokesperson Dr. Winston Casio said Yang has chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
"He will return for further lab tests as required by his doctors. But we will coordinate with the Bureau of Immigration (BI) first since we only have physical custody while they retain the legal custody,” Casio told GMA News Online.
According to Casio, the government cannot deport illegal aliens with cases in the country.
"Tony Yang is facing criminal charges filed by the NBI in Cagayan de Oro," he said.
Yang, who is also known as Yang Jian Xin and Antonio Lim, has admitted before a Senate committee that he is a Chinese who was born in China.
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has filed 16 complaints for falsification of public documents, perjury, and violation of the Anti-Alias Law against him.
PAOCC and the BI, with assistance from the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, arrested Yang in Manila in September 2024.
The BI had said Yang allegedly falsified information on Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) certification of Phil Sanjia Corporation, a firm which was said to be under his ownership. He allegedly failed to remit contributions of Filipino employees in Sanjia Steel intended for the Social Security System (SSS), PhilHealth, and Pag-IBIG.
His brother Michael was an economic adviser of former President Rodrigo Duterte. Senator Risa Hontiveros had earlier tagged Michael as a "key actor in Chinese intelligence operations" in the Philippines. — Joahna Lei Casilao/ VDV, GMA Integrated News
