Canadian military chief Carignan visits PH
Canadian Armed Forces chief of the defense staff General Marie Annabelle Jennie Carignan visited the Philippines and met with her counterpart, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief General Romeo Brawner Jr. on Wednesday.
In a statement, the AFP said Brawner welcomed Carignan during a courtesy visit at Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City.
“During the meeting, both leaders reaffirmed their shared commitment to regional peace and security, underscoring the importance of mutual support in joint operations and training programs,” the AFP said.
“General Brawner also expressed his appreciation for Canada’s ongoing assistance in strengthening the AFP’s capabilities, particularly in capacity-building initiatives,” it added.
The AFP said Carignan’s visit showed the Philippine military’s efforts to enhance its cooperation with like-minded countries and to strengthen its shared commitment to regional peace and security. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
