Marcos wants in-depth probes of kidnapping incidents

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. wants thorough probes into the recent kidnapping incidents, including that of businessman Anson Que, who was recently found dead in Rizal province.

At a press briefing on Thursday, Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro was asked to  comment on the Filipino-Chinese business community expressing alarm over recent kidnapping incidents.

"Patuloy po ang pag-iimbestiga po dito. Hindi po ito tutulugan ng gobyerno. Ang lahat po ng nagaganap dito ay pinagbilin po ng Pangulo na dapat imbestigahang mabuti para po ma-lessen o ma-eradicate ang mga ganitong klaseng krimen dito sa Pilipinas," Castro said.

Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla confirmed to GMA News Online that the two cadavers found Wednesday on a roadside in Rodriguez, Rizal belong to Que and his driver.

Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesperson Police Brigadier General Jean Fajardo said Que, also known as Congyuan Guo or Anson Tan, and his driver were last seen alive on March 29 around 2 p.m. when they left Valenzuela City for a meeting.

According to Fajardo, the police are looking into the real motive in the abduction, considering that the perpetrators supposedly asked for ransom but still killed the victims.

Authorities are pursuing some leads in the case, including the possibility that the perpetrators were involved in previous kidnappings and Philippine offshore gaming operators (POGOs).

A special investigation task group has been created to focus on the case, according to Fajardo. — VDV, GMA Integrated News
