Family of Anson Que denies alleged POGO links

The family of Chinese-Filipino businessman Anson Que—also known as Anson Tan—who was recently found dead alongside his driver, has denied allegations linking him to Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs).

In a statement released Saturday through their legal counsel, Que’s family disputed reports suggesting any involvement with POGO operations and clarified that they do not own any rental property in Bulacan.

“Mr. Tan has been engaged in legitimate business for decades, is a stalwart member of the Filipino Chinese business community, and is known for his charitable work. During his lifetime, he stayed away from shady dealings and only did business with people he knew and trusted,” the statement read.

The family also urged the public to be discerning in light of what they described as misleading news regarding Que’s death.

They added that they would continue to cooperate with the Philippine National Police but appealed for privacy as they grieve.

The statement came after police said they were investigating possible links between Que and POGO operations.

Earlier, the PNP reported that suspects had been identified in connection with the killings and that authorities were probing claims of Que’s alleged unpaid debts to POGOs.

According to a 24 Oras Weekend report by Marisol Abdurahman, the PNP is continuing its investigation into the circumstances surrounding Que’s abduction and killing. — Jiselle Anne Casucian/DVM, GMA Integrated News
