Marcos appoints new BFP chief
President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has appointed Fire Director Jesus Piedad Fernandez as the new chief of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).
In a press release, the Department of Interior and Local Government said Fernandez was appointed on April 11, 2025 following the mandatory retirement of former Fire Chief Louie Puracan last November 2024
Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla earlier designated Fernandez as officer-in-charge of the BFP.
Fernandez was the Director for Logistics of BFP in 2016, and Director for Comptrollership a year after.
He also served as director of BFP Region 4A for two years, Chief Directorial Staff, and Acting Deputy Chief for Administration in 2022.
He was also the City Fire Marshal of Tuguegarao and District Fire Marshal of Quezon City.
Fernandez is a member of PNPA “Sandigan” Class of 1994.—AOL, GMA Integrated News
