Last-minute travellers head to PITX, NAIA on Maundy Thursday

Travellers continued to arrive at the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) and terminals of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on Maundy Thursday.

According to Marisol Abdurahman's report on "24 Oras," many passengers lined up to catch flights to the provinces at the NAIA Terminal 3.

“Medyo maluwag na lalo na may e-gates na, convenient na… Sobrang dami yung queue ng mga tao [noong Wednesday.] Sobrang haba, tapos ang tagal ng process. Ngayon medyo maluwag na, so goods,” said a passenger.

(It’s a bit better since there are e-gates now, and it’s more convenient… [On Wednesday,] there were so many people queuing. It was very long, and the process also took a long time. Now it’s a bit smoother, so it’s good.)

The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) shared that there were an estimated 130,000 passengers across all terminals of NAIA on Maundy Thursday.

Meanwhile, passengers also rush and experience delays while waiting for their buses at PITX.

“Nakakapagod, sobrang init tsaka madami pong sasakyan kasi,” said a PITX bus passenger.

(It’s tiring, since it’s very hot and there were also other cars.)

PITX said that they have recorded a total of 99,440 passengers as of 3 p.m. on Thursday.

They also have deployed full-force security forces inside and outside their terminals.

According to both NAIA and PITX, they anticipate the influx of passengers to continue until Good Friday, while the influx of returning passengers may begin on Easter Sunday.
