NCRPO: Security ops in 'full swing' for travelers' return to Metro

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) assured Saturday that there would be no letup in its security operations for the return of travelers to Metro Manila after the Holy Week break.

In statement on Saturday, the NCRPO said "measures are in place" to ensure that transport hubs and major thoroughfares are safe and orderly as residents transition to the regular pace of Metro Manila living.

"Metro Manila is bracing for a wave of returning travelers... Security operations remain in full swing as vacationers begin to make their way back into Metro Manila following the Holy Week and long holiday break," the NCRPO said.

Seeking to "sustain full operational readiness," the NCRPO said it is continually monitoring deployments on the ground and maintaining police presence in sites where people converge.

Assistance desks, visibility patrols, and coordination with transport terminals and local governments are ongoing.

"NCRPO is ready. We will be there in the streets to deliver safety and security services to the people.  This is the mandate that we are committed to perform all the time," NCRPO Regional Director Police Major General Anthony Aberin.

Nonetheless, the Metro Manila police called on the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to its personnel.

Earlier, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said it has beefed up its deployment of personnel to secure the country's observance of Holy Week 2025.

From 40,000 cops for this year's summer vacation season, the PNP said 21,000 more were assigned for Holy Week, pushing the total police deployment to over 60,000. — VDV, GMA Integrated News
