Sara Duterte: Imee, Camille share ‘common vision’ with PDP Laban bets
Vice President Sara Duterte on Monday said that the 12 senatorial candidates whom she supports for the 2025 midterm elections share a “common vision” for the country.
Sara Duterte was referring to the ten official candidates of Partido ng Demokratiko Pilipino Lakas ng Bayan (PDP Laban)---which is chaired by her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte—with the addition of presidential sister Senator Imee Marcos, and Alyansa bet Las Piñas Representative Camille Villar.
According to the Vice President, the 12 candidates “are united by a common vision” of a “peaceful and prosperous Philippines.”
“This vision is solid enough to break through the walls of the existing political division in the country,” Sara Duterte added.
Last month, Imee Marcos officially left the senatorial ticket of her brother, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., citing the actions of the administration during the arrest of Rodrigo Duterte that were different from her ideals and principles.
The Duterte patriarch is currently detained at the Scheveningen Prison in The Hague, Netherlands for charges of crimes against humanity for the extrajudicial killings during his administration's war on drugs.
Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas' campaign manager and Navotas Representative Toby Tiangco had said that the 11-man senatorial line-up of the Marcos administration is "intact" despite individual endorsements from various national and local officials.
In his latest statement, Tiangco said that while the Alyansa was glad there were shared common goals, ''turning that vision into reality takes more than words.''
''It requires a clear direction, steady leadership, and a track record of delivering results,'' Tiangco said.
''Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas stands on performance, not promises. Our candidates are working with President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. to push for difficult but necessary reforms that will strengthen our institutions and improve lives,'' he added.
Tiangco said the country needed partners who supported the President’s legislative agenda and would help accelerate key programs over the next three years.
''The more we get done, the more Filipinos benefit. This is not a time for obstruction but for collaboration that drives progress and sustains the momentum of Bagong Pilipinas,'' he said.
Meanwhile, PDP Laban candidates maintained that only ten of them have been officially endorsed by the political party despite the individual endorsements made by the Vice President and Senator Robin Padilla of other senatorial candidates.
