Private schools may also start classes on June 16 —DepEd

The Department of Education (DepEd) said Monday that like public schools, private schools may also begin classes for School Year 2025-2026 on June 16.
The Education Department pointed out that private schools have discretion whether or not to adopt DepEd’s school calendar.
Private schools may also set their own start of classes, provided that they comply with the School Calendar Law, which states that the “school year shall start on the first Monday of June but not later than the last day of August."
The incoming academic year will run from June 16, 2025, and end on March 31, 2026, marking a return to the pre-pandemic school calendar, as outlined in DepEd Order No. 12, Series of 2025.
The SY 2024-2025, meanwhile, ended last April 15.
Under the law, the school year shall consist of not more than 220 class days. There are a total of 197 school days in SY 2025-2026. —AOL, GMA Integrated News
