Comelec opens online precinct finder for Eleksyon 2025
The online precinct finder for the May 2025 polls is now available to the public, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said on Wednesday.
In a Facebook post, Comelec said voters may check their polling place and precinct number at https://precinctfinder.comelec.gov.ph.
The online platform will ask users to provide personal information such as full name, birth date, and place of registration.
Comelec’s online precinct finder also shows voter’s status if active or inactive.
“Dapat eksakto ang pangalan. Dapat kumpleto ang pangalan and therefore, 'pag hindi kumpleto, hindi makikita ang records,” Comelec Chairperson George Erwin Garcia told reporters.
(Users should input their complete name otherwise it will not show in the records.)
“Minsan naman parang hindi ma-open ang precinct finder. May reason po dyan, ‘yan po ay part ng strategy na ma-counter ang any possible attempt na i-hack ang precinct finder,” he added.
(Sometimes it would seem that it won’t open but that is part of our strategy to counter any attempt to hack the precinct finder.)
The Department of Information and Communications Technology approved the online precinct finder before it went live.
In a separate interview, Garcia said the poll body has measures in place to secure the online precinct finder against attacks.
“Surely, they will attempt to hack our system…kasi nga po ang Comelec ang may pinakamalawak na data ng mga Pilipino sa lahat ng ahensya ng pamahalaan. May mga na-set up tayo na parameters at paraan to secure the precinct finder,” he said.
(Surely, they will attempt to hack our system because we have the largest data on Filipinos among all government offices. We have set up parameters and measures to secure the precinct finder.)
At least 35 million hacking attempts were made against the precinct finder in the 2022 elections, he added.
According to the Comelec, there are 69,673,655 registered voters for the 2025 national and local midterm elections as of January 23.
On Tuesday, the Comelec said it has started the deployment of ballots and other election paraphernalia for Eleksyon 2025, starting with the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) and other far-flung areas.
Election Day is on May 12, but overseas voters may cast their votes from April 13 to May 12 while local absentee voters may cast their votes from April 28 to 30. —Joviland Rita and Sundy Locus/KG/VBL, GMA Integrated News
