Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru of Japan

Japanese Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru will undertake an official visit to the Philippines on April 29 to 30, Malacañang announced on Wednesday.

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and First Lady Louise “Liza” Araneta-Marcos will welcome Prime Minister Ishiba and his spouse, Mrs. Ishiba Yoshiko, during official engagements at the Malacañang Palace on April 29.

The meeting between the two leaders aims to deepen and improve economic and development cooperation, political and defense engagements, and people-to-people exchanges.

They are expected to exchange views about regional and global developments as well as explore new pathways towards peace and stability under the ‘Strengthened Strategic Partnership’ between Manila and Tokyo.

The exchange of high-level visits is considered as a main feature of Philippines-Japan relations. —KG, GMA Integrated News
