Visa interviews require complete documents —US Embassy
The US Embassy in the Philippines has issued a reminder to all immigrant visa applicants: incomplete documentation will result in a canceled interview.
In an official advisory, the embassy announced that starting May 19, applicants who arrive without all required original documents will not be interviewed and will need to reschedule their appointments.
“Starting May 19, immigrant visa applicants who arrive at the US Embassy for their appointment without all of the required, original documents will not be interviewed and will need to schedule a new appointment. Be aware that the next available appointment may be months from now,” the advisory stated.
Required documents include:
- Valid passport
- Original civil documents (e.g., birth certificate)
- Original police clearance (e.g., NBI clearance) for applicants aged 16 and above
- Affidavit of support and financial/tax documents from the petitioner or joint sponsors
- DS-260 confirmation page
- Interview appointment letter
Additional requirements may include:
- Medical examination from St. Luke’s Extension Clinic
- NBI clearance with AKA for applicants with aliases or nicknames
- Petitioner’s original birth certificate
- Original proof of termination of any prior marriage
The embassy emphasized the importance of preparedness: “All immigrant visa applicants should be prepared for their appointment. Applicants who do not bring all the required documents create significant delays in our process and decrease the number of visa applicants we can interview,” the statement added. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
